NYC Street Artist Arrested

Drones Flying Above & People Getting Arrested
As if the world we live in, is not hectic enough we now have to conform to the whims of local government who choose to treat the streets of the United States, as if we were in the back allies of Baghdad.  New York City among other major metropolises across the country are now starting to send unmanned drones into the sky as a means of having a birds eye view at all times. Some would consider this to be just, given the events of 9/11 but most would consider this to be an act of war i.e. Martial Law.

Now the world of street art is a very delicate subject with its artists always toeing the thin line of what is legal and illegal. There are many artist who have displayed their works for the world to see but never quite like this.

Animal, the alias the artist chooses to adorn is one of the first people to feel that wrath of this NYPD campaign. He has been hard at work posting his "satirical posters" around the city for all to see. His work is a direct result of these unmanned aircraft's being flown high above head, and his work illustrates people being bombed by these drones. A former U.S Solider Essam Attia has a bit of experience and knowledge when it comes to Drones and how they are truly used.

Animal was tracked back to his doorstep where he was arrested by NYPD detectives. According to Essam Attia, his work was meant to create conversation, about this unethical form of police surveillance. Instead he has been treated as a terrorist and a vandal, with accusations of sparking wide spread fear and disorder. Which if you ask me is a joke. What is worse? The man trying to educate the people as to what is happening in their own backyards, or these military planes soaring above head? You tell me.

Anyone with any further information about drones in the New York area, or any other area for that matter, contact us at Geeked Out and we will tell the world your story.

“Attia now faces 56 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and grand larceny possession of stolen property for his spree last September, with an additional charge of weapons possession after officers allegedly found an unloaded .22 caliber revolver under his bed during the raid.” WOW! The NYPD is trying to send a message, I would say! Go overboard lately, any overreactions, huh NYPD?

Future Shock Art: 3D Street Art that might have you thinkin' your trippin

3 Dimensional Art
Art is everywhere, and some of the best art is right outside of your door. You no longer have to journey to the Museum to see works of contemporary art, all you need to do is open your eyes.
Street Art is one of the most purest & profound works of the 21 century, with artists such as Kurt Wenner (an American 3D street artist) paving or should we say un-paving the way.

You can find artists such as Kurt, scattered across the world stretched out over a slab of concrete armed with nothing more than chalk and pastels, bringing life to images that would normally only be found in the world of Alice and Wonderland and Dante's Inferno.

Although this work is widely regarded as contemporary, its origins can easily be traced back to the Renaissance era. The first reported recordings of street art came from the cobble stoned streets of Italy, and were put on display by gypsy's. Commonly referred to as " The Madonnari" these artists works primarily comprised of images of the Madonna.

As irony would have the term "Starving Artist" derived from this group, as they would travel from city to city displaying their work living completely off the coins that were thrown to them by passers on the street. Street art took a huge blow during the WWI & WWII and almost feel off the face of the earth for good. If it were not for the work of the International Street Painting Festival in Italy we might have never seen the return of modern street painting.

For Love Of Art & Basketball

Art & Basketball

Art and Basketball are two things that are not commonly paired, however, through a new movement heavily based in NYC the two now go together like Barrack & The White House.

The work that is being conducted at POP Art Studio (NYC), is not only amazing and cutting edge but beginning to gather a steady following. This work is being seen and appreciated by celebrities, athletes and the general public and shows no signs of slowing down.

Tuesday the 16th of October, was the day that set this Art Craze in motion. The world's most prolific graffiti and street artists all converged onto POP International Galleries located in SOHO (South Of Houston) , NYC to demo their work. This was a new collection that was dedicated to the world of Basketball but, mainly focused on the NBA, highlighting today's marquee players.

This exhibit incorporates not only players, but the physical elements of the game as well i.e. the NBA official court used in the 2011 All-Star Game & NBA backboards.

According to Jeff Jaffe owner of POP International Galleries "celebrating dynamic work like The Art of Basketball from some of today's hottest POP and street artist is exactly why I started this gallery."  And we here at Future Shock Art are so happy that he did, finally a studio dedicated to art with some SWAG.................

More To Art Than Paint & Canvases

                       Introducing Hila The Killa

When you think of the world of art, what are a few of the things that come to mind? If you're like most of us then paint on paper, maybe some brushes, shit like that. However, like most things in this world, art being no exception, change is inevitable. Within the last 20 years we have seen art take on many forms by many different artist graffiti, silk screening, charcoal, light graffiti   the list is endless but one of my personal favorites is the development of art in the world of film.

Now this is nothing new by any stretch of the imagination and has been done before, but never quite like this. Hila The Killa aka Hila Perry is an NYU film student who has been focusing her time on make a new kind of art, a satire if you will. Her ability to capture modern day society through a lens is uncanny. Hila's work as an artist is fresh, edgy, hip and funny as hell . You'll just have to see to believe.

With titles such as "Penis Envy" & "White Girl Wasted" I think you get the hint, Hila The Killa is straight ill.

We love the work that Hila The Killa and artists such as herself are creating and developing, and we hope to see a continuation of work like this.

The world needs art , culture and laughter..........

Who better to bring it to you than Future Shock Art

5 Pointz The Sub Culture Of American Graffitti

                               FIVE POINTZ

NYC the city so nice they named it twice. World renowned for its trend setting fashion, Money Making habits, and the melting pot for all that is hot.  However if you are a fan of the underground art craze that has gone viral all over the world also known as Graffiti, you’d be hard up to find a city that embraces this culture more than NY. On every corner form downtown Manhattan to the burbs of Queens you can find hype, fresh and highly illegal art that speaks to the youth of the world that can't and won't be ignored. It is our generation’s contribution to art and that’s just that. 5 Pointz located in NYC Long Island City has not forgotten this fact and has created a safe haven for past, present and future artist. Allowing artists to throw up tags and other work with a written permit of course, but none the less NO 5-0 which means no jail……… YEA BUDDY.  They are all about educating and enlightening the world to the art that has been previously viewed as vandalism and a crime. We here at GEEKED OUT ART commend and condone the work that 5 POINTZ has done and continues to do and we strongly recommend that if you are an artist, fan, or just and admirer that you check out their page.

As a graffiti artist myself I firmly believe that the world needs to take notice of what's going on cause we ain’t going no where……….
